2 Bedroom Apartment Tenerife

We had a number of problems accessing the apartment (took 1.5 hrs from arriving in reception to actually getting into the apartment). I hadn't been given any confirmation by email (even after emailing the day prior to arrival) so the guy on reception wouldn't hand over any keys and I struggled to get hold of the owner/caretaker. When we finally got in the apartment looked lovely and clean. We couldn't get the safe to work even after ringing the caretaker which we weren't very happy about but we decided to get ready to go out anyway around 9pm. The lighting in the bedrooms was totally inadequate when you were trying to get ready, you could just about see, I struggled to read in there, the bathroom lighting was also very subdued and we found the bathrooms way too dark. The towels provided were well past their best, one of them even had 3 holes in it and a 4th one brewing which we found very unsatisfactory. We ended up moving out of the apartment and relocating to another place. Now we may have been very unlucky, the caretakers say if we had called them back they would have sorted out the safe and the towel problems but as I explained to them first impressions count and we weren't very impressed! We shouldn't have to spend our holiday chasing up things that should be correct in the first instance. The location was great which is why we picked this particular spot but will chose a different apartment next time.

Owner's Response: As representative of the owner, we were disapointed that you are the only EVER people to not enjoy their stay at the apartment.With regarding to the faults, as caretakers, we would have solved any problems the same day, as is always the case. We were not given a chance to do this, and feel a little unjust that you never asked. You did ask for a refund on your money, and was asked to provide proof that you moved out, after one night, and also that you could not provide us with proof of payment on another apartment. The owner is a reasonable person, but as you can realise, there are also people, who like to get a free holiday ( i am not accusing you of this) so you can understand the reason no refund was given.I hope you enjoyed Tenerife, and you will visit the island again, so be it in another apartment. best regards Susan
