Park Santiago Tenerife Apartment

8 / 10

Parque Santiago IV occupies a small promontory on the Playa de Las Américas coastline, directly opposite the popular surfer’s beach of El Cabezo. Parque Santiago III is right next door and stretches to the pretty bay of El Camisón beach.

Style & character

6 / 10

Designed in traditional Canarian style, these low-rise complexes contain apartments and villas of one to four bedrooms set around immaculately maintained central courtyards, swimming pools, subtropical gardens and walkways. Emulating the trademark design of César Manrique, a renowned Canarian architect, the pools and sunbathing terraces follow irregular geometric curves in brilliant white, peppered with black volcanic boulders and studded with islands of palm trees and subtropical plantings.

Rooms

Studios, apartments and villas with one to four bedrooms are largely privately owned, meaning they are decorated, equipped and maintained to a high standard. Terraces and balconies face inwards over the central swimming pools and gardens, offering partial or full sea views; they are large enough to take a small dining table and chairs. Parque Santiago IV has a landmark circular tower of studio apartments next to two blocks of larger flats. Both complexes have sizeable saltwater swimming pools.

Value for money

Excellent, given the high standard of accommodation and a prime location. A one-bedroom apartment on a self-catering basis costs from €85 (£71) in low season; rising to €108 (£90) in high (IGIC local tax included). Free Wi-Fi in reception, although speed is lamentable; connection in rooms costs €10 (£8) a day or €25 (£21) per week.
