Reina Sofia Airport in the South (Sur) of Tenerife is the main tourist airport, and suitable for resorts such as Los Cristianos, Playa de las Americas, Los Gigantes and Las Galletas and the other southern resorts.

Reina Sofia Airport is approximately:

• 20 30 minutes from Los Cristianos by taxi
• 25 35 minutes from Playa de las Americas by taxi. 16 kilometres
• 2 Hours from Puerto de la Cruz by taxi. 60 kilometres

Most people travel to the Island from the UK by charter flight, because the flight costs are usually less than half those of schedule flights. Ensure that the flight is to Reina Sofia Airport for the Southern resorts.

There is an excellent tourist information office in the Airport, pick up you leaflets on your arrival.

The Checking in area can be extremely busy and congested in high season, especially on Fridays. The above photograph of the check in hall was taken in low season. May and June being the quieter time of year.

Reina Sofia Airport Facilities

Reina Sofia Airport airport is modern had has the usual airport facilities including a selection of cafes, bars and restaurants. Some in the departure lounge with views of the runway.

Long Term Car Park

The long tem Car park has easy access and payment is by ticket machine, so have some change available.

Short Term Car park

The Short term car park is closer to the Reina Sofia Airport terminal and is free, but very restrictive with a stay time of only 15 minutes. This time is only just suitable for dropping off or picking up your relatives or friends.

Vehicles overstaying this 15 minute limit can result in the vehicle being towed away.

Check in times

Check in time is usually 2 hours before flight time. Check with your airline

Flight confirmation

Most charter flights expect you to re confirm your flight the day before. Check if you need to do this with your airline

Bus Stop Location

The bus stop is on the corner of the Terminal building. Depending which exit you use is is either:

Turn right after leaving the Terminal Building walk past the Taxis. Turn left at the Zebra Crossing to the first island in the roadway.
